The Super Affiliate Handbook: How I Made $436,797 in One Year Selling Other People’s Stuff Online
by Rosalind Gardner
My strategy for making money online is twofold: pay per click advertising schemes such as AdSense and Kanoodle, and affiliate marketing.
Of the two, it’s affiliate marketing that has the biggest potential. With affiliate marking, a web publisher puts special links and banners on her website which lead to products offered by cooperating online merchants. When a visitor to your site clicks on the link and then buys a product from the merchant, you get a commission.
When I first heard about affiliate marketing and the amount of money that people were making, my reaction was: They’re all lying. No one can make that kind of money for doing nothing.
I was wrong on two counts. First, you can make tens of thousands of dollars. But second, you dont’ get paid for doing nothing.
Affiliate marketing is work—although its work you can do in your spare time, and on your own schedule. And it can be work that relates to something you love. But it is work nonetheless.
You have to work to create a site with good content that attracts visitors. You have to work to write content that encourages people to buy a particular product.
The Super Affiliate Handbook offers good, practical step-by-step advice on getting involved in the affiliate marketing world.
You can laugh at the subtitle: How I Made $434,797 In a Single Year. But consider this: A typical affilate program pays 7 percent on a sale. Lets say that you offer information and advice on buying laptops. With the typical laptop selling for $1,800 online, you could make $126 for each person who clicks through and buys an item. If each day, you convinced just one of the estimated 600 million people who are online to buy a laptop, you would make $45,000 a year.
