Webmaster World

Webmaster World is an online forum for professional webmasters. If you’re serious abotu making cash on the net, you’ll need to start visiting and reading that site (along with this one, of course, where I’ll bring you the latest advice in plain language).

There are several forums in Webmaster World that are dedicated to things such as Google Adsense, search engine marketing and the like. After following the topics for several weeks, you will begin to learn how to extract the practical advice from the absurd.

A couple of caveats about Webmaster World:

First, the webmasters there are, by and large, professionals. Running websites is their livelihood. Much of what they do is not practical for the part timer.

Second, they are paranoid. They won’t tell you what topics their websites are on, won’t give you a url to look at as an example, and call every product a “widget.”

They’re paranoid because they are largely a mercenary bunch. They work hard to find out which advertisers are paying the most money and then generate a quickie site for that topic. Some of them have custom software that helps them to generate thousands of pages in a matter of days.

You won’t have that problem, though. Your goal is to build a website about a topic you love that will grow steadily, and generate a respectable part time income.

The other thing that Webmaster World is good for is to keep you inspired. There are a lot of success stories there. I learned to set realistic goals by reading that site. First, my goal was $2 a day, then $5, then $10, then $20. It is possible, and you will read about others who have done it.
