Making Cash On The Web is a serious attempt to compile useful information about making money on the internet. It is a combination of things that I have learned myself, as well as information culled from other sources. It is NOT about get rich quick schemes, or wierd marketing programs. I am not going to sell you anything.
If you don't yet have a website but want to get started making cash on the web, start here.
Choosing the right size ad for your site can make a huge difference in your earnings.
Google’s AdSense has three basic formats: the tower, the banner, and the rectangle.
The tower format ads are tall and narrow. In this format, ads are sorted vertically from top to bottom. Typically, you will find this format ad in a site’s sidebar.
The banner format aligns the ads horizontally. It comes in a variety of sizes, from the full width of a typical page with four ads, to much smaller ones containing just a single ad.
Rectangular ad blocks contain one to four ads, stacked on top of each other. They are distinguished from the tower in that they are three to four times wider.
So what size is the best?
Constant research and experimentation by myself, and others suggests that most people will maximize their revenues by using either the medium, or the large rectangle format.
When I started with AdSense, I used the tower format in my sites with a navigation bar, and banners on the other ones. Like many, I thought that the rectangular ads were frankly a bit ugly. But after doing some experimenting, I found that using the rectangle format tripled my earnings.
Of course, every website is different, and your mileage may vary. But my own research as been confirmed by the results of studies published by others.
Give it a try.
