Knowledge is power. And in the case of running a web site for profit, knowledge is money.
The more you know about who is visiting your website, the better. You need to know how many people are visiting, what websites they came from, what key words they used in the search that led them to you, and so on.
The best way to do this is to sign up for a site statistics service. After you insert a bit of html/java into an inconspicious place on your website, these services will track dozens of different statistics for you. Then, you can simply go to their website, log in and see how your site is doing.
